Our Products

We stock hundreds of products ranging from household staples to local delicacies, so don’t be fooled by our tiny premises.

We’re proud to support local growers and artisan producers and are constantly looking to expand our range. Read more about our suppliers here.

Fresh Meat and Deli

We offer the famous Nelsons Butchers’ pork pies and sausages, alongside Bancroft’s steak pies, a wide range of cooked goods from Grasmere Pork Products and Hay Meadow Farm patés from nearby Wing. When the weather’s warm why not pop in for some delicious picnic treats or one of our top-quality BBQ packs? A more recent introduction is a selection of sweet and savoury pies, including gluten free products, from the Award Winning Rutland Pie Company of Oakham.

Our pre-order service is available throughout the year, taking the hassle out of shopping for the weekend, family gatherings and special occasions. Simply call in or phone by noon on Thursday to collect your joint of meat, ribs, poultry, or whole cooked ham from the shop on Friday. Anything the butcher can prepare for you in their own shop is available through this service.

Freshly-prepared meals from COOK

We all have evenings when there simply isn’t time to prepare a meal from scratch. Rather than phoning for takeaway why not pick up a delicious supper from COOK’s award-winning range? We regularly stock comfort food such as cottage pie and lasagne, along with luxurious dishes like Red Thai Chicken Curry, Beef Stroganoff, Smoked Haddock Gratin and Huntsman’s Chicken. And for an indulgent dessert choose from COOK’s individual Dark Chocolate Fondants or Baked Vanilla Cheesecakes.

Eve’s Cakes in Woodnewton supply us with a wide range of delicious homemade cakes including Rich Almond, Old Fashioned Ginger, and Rum & Coconut, as well as all-butter shortbread and a variety of fruit cakes.

Both Kings Cliffe Bakery and Eve’s Cakes are happy to prepare to order if you require something special.

Dairy and Ice Cream

Free-range Rutland eggs from Stephen Drakes of Welland Valley eggs of Market Harborough.

Stephen’s mother, Dorothy, was a former resident of Collyweston so he has a long connection with the village and is thrilled to be able to supply us with one of our staple products.

Ice cream and sorbets are supplied by Gallones of Northampton in a range of popular flavours.

Beer, Wine and Cider

We’re particularly proud of our selection of quality wines. Hand-picked and supplied by a Master of Wine who lives locally and is recognised as one of the country’s top vintners, these wines are good value and not easily found elsewhere.

We also stock a range of excellent ciders and beer brewed by Kings Cliffe Brewery and by Tony Davies of the Grainstore Brewery in Oakham. Why not try something new, such as Rutland Osprey Ale or Lady in Pink Cider?

  1. Hi there. When it says on the website about maybe having to close by June without volunteers is that this June or is that posting from period years? I’m thinking of moving to the area and this shop would be a fantastic help for me with a baby. And any spare time I had Around the baby and work, I would def volunteer some hours.

    1. Hi, apologies for the delay it was June of this year. Since this post we have had more volunteers come forward some of them have taken up their positions others are still undergoing training so we are still struggling to fill the slots, particularly during the holiday period. We are determined to keep the shop open but it does rely on residents to help out so if you are still moving to the village and would like to help us please give our Manager, Rachel a call any weekday morning between 8am and 11.30 am. We are very flexible some of our volunteers volunteer once a month, others do a couple of hours a week. We would be delighted to talk to you, thank you for your support.
      Kind regards
      Sandra Johnson
